If you're looking for an 'adults only'
romantic getaway with unlimited luxuries, look no
further than
Secrets. This is Secrets first location in Jamaica, which opened April
2010.
It is only 25 minutes from the Montego Bay airport, this all-suite
resort sits along a
secluded half-mile private beach.
The property is split into two sections-Wild Orchid & St. James.
Each has its own
"Preferred Club"
which is a little more but definitely worth it. Wild Orchid is
the preferred
side because it is closer to all the
restaurants/entertainment, otherwise the rooms are
basically the same
in both. |
|
|
|
It boasts following
amenities:
- Limitless international &
domestic premium/top shelf spirits
- All meals & snacks
- 24-hour room service
(yes, we got hamburgers at 2:30 AM)
- 7 restaurants (Jamaican,
Italian, French, Japanese grill, World Buffet)
- 2 seaside grills
- 10 bars/lounges ,
including swim up bars- all having ocean views
- In-suite minibar
refreshed daily
- Pool/beach wait service
(on the beach/in the water, they bring you you what you
want to drink!)
- No reservations or
wristbands required!

The view from one half of our balcony.
Suite was over 1,100 sq. ft.!
|
 |
|
|
Our balcony hot tub (plus
another one
in the bathroom, overlooking the ocean!) |

The other view from our balcony |
Some of the highlights were-
- Live band every evening
- Spa was incredible
Average massage $120, & you can spend the whole
day there. Using the hot tub, therapeutic waters &
pools, juice bar, saunas- very relaxing!
- Service was
outstanding
tipping not required, but we tipped our concierge
in the Preferred Club, as well beach service because
they took good care
of us.
- People were very friendly
- All check-ins are done at
private desks rather
than a big counter, with cold champagne,
chocolate chip cookies & a cool face cloth!
- No wristbands, no towel
cards, no reservations
|
|
|
|
 |
Some of the low lights were-
- The restaurants had
excellent food,
but they were a little redundant despite
the themes.
- The beach is separated in
3 coves,
so walking the beach is a little
cumbersome,
and rocky.
- After the live band was
over at 10 PM,
there is very little to do (disco is very small)

Jamaica
itself is a beautiful country. Very lush and mountainous.
It was very hot/humid,
but with a cool drink in your hand, and your toes in the your
sand, it didn't matter!
There are so many excursions to do including zip lining &
bobsledding through the jungle,
sunset cruises & swimming with dolphins.
We did two excursions... |
|
|
|
Mountain Valley River Rafting
(25 min. from Montego Bay) |
Duns River Falls in Ocho Rios
(1.5 hrs East of Montego Bay) |
 |
 |
Our captain gave us pedicures from the
limestone on the side of the river. |
The falls were amazing-very
refreshing! |

We got flowers, and fresh
coconut water.
Then we were off to the banana/pineapple
plantation |

Don't forget your water shoes &
waterproof camera |
